I have finally finished the playhouse.
I did a lighting test for my final for set design. This set does remained unfinished and because of that I made it a construction site. My character Mrs. Serpico a quirky old lady, a fashion magazine editor, is having her Manhattan loft repainted and remodeled. I made the walls out of Masonite boards and the wall design are made out of illustration board. The wood floor is bass wood cut into pieces and stained I will take closer pictures of the floor.
Here is the Progress of my little pig's playhouse. It's all made out illustration board.
I have begun the construction of the playhouse that my little piglet Judas is going to interact with on set. The bottom pictures are what inspired the construction of this playhouse, I really liked that the playhouse were all wonky looking and its amazing that they actually built them for children. I am going to be making the playhouse out of Illustration board.
This is a ram mold for the replacement eyes of Judas. The mold is made out of Urethane RTV Mold-Making System.
She was ready to mold! YAY! I made a one part mold out of Tin Cure Silicone SR 1618.
Before: This was the first try of my pig head, it didn't turn out how I wanted to. One of the main reasons why I was going with this route of sculpting foam and applying a thin layer of magic sculpt was because I thought that it would speed up my puppet making process. I am trying to keep to a set schedule because I only have 15 weeks until the end of my last semester. I want to finish my puppet on time to be able to animate on time.
After: One of the things that I have learned was sometimes you have to start over to get the quality you want. I could of proceeded with the first head but I would of not been satisfied I would have been disappointed with the quality. I am much more pleased with the end result My next step it to make the mold. To be continued...
I have decided to change the way that I was going to do the head for my pig puppet. Originally I was suppose to do it by sculpting rigid foam and then applying a thin layer of Magic Sculpt over it. I was going to make a mold for the replacement mouths out of silicone. I decided against it because the head didn't look like I wanted to when I applied the Magic Sculpt. I nixed the old way I was going to do it and started sculpting the head out Chavant clay. My first step is going to be to cut out from the bridge of the nose, over the cheeks, and around the mouth to make mold for the replacement mouths. I will be posting more pictures soon...
This is a new puppet that I have been working on, her name is Judas S. Moon. I am making her a simple wire puppet with wood pieces to act as a chest and pelvis. Her head was sculpted out of rigid foam which I am going to cover with a thin layer of magic sculpt. I am also making replacement mouths for a lip sync.
